Looking Back...Moving Forward
Please join us in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the community’s FIRST public institution of higher education--MCC.
It was 1957 when the Florida Legislature awarded a charter to (then) Manatee Junior College. The new College quickly became one of Florida’s outstanding community colleges and today Manatee Community College is a leader in all manner of learning opportunities.
From the first 502 students who met in borrowed space, MCC has grown to 9,000-plus credit students and 21,000 residents taking noncredit classes at two 100-acre campuses in Bradenton and Venice, the Center for Innovation and Technology at Lakewood Ranch, and online classes.
MCC’s remarkable progress is a credit to an involved community. Come participate and enjoy!
