SCF offers EAP courses in speech/listening, reading, writing, and grammar at all four levels.
EAP 0100 Speech/Listening IUse concrete vocabulary that refers to familiar topics.
EAP 0120 Reading I
This is an introductory level reading course in which
EAP students develop their ability to comprehend limited
written materials and to build basic vocabulary. A grade
of C or better is necessary to move to EAP 0220 Reading
II. At the completion of the course, students should be
able to:
EAP 0140 Writing I
This is an introductory level writing course in which
EAP students develop their ability to write grammatically
correct sentences and learn basic organizational skills for
paragraph writing. A grade of C or better is necessary to
move to EAP 0240 Writing II. At the completion of the
course, students should be able to:
EAP 0160 Grammar I
This is an introductory level grammar course in which
EAP students develop their ability to understand and use basic
verb tenses and sentence patterns appropriately. A grade
of C or better is necessary to move to EAP 0260 Grammar
II. At the completion of the course, students should be
able to:
EAP 0200 Speech/Listening II
This is a high-introductory level listening and
speaking course in which EAP students continue to develop their
ability to understand and participate in brief conversations on
familiar topics and to develop their pronunciation
skills. A grade of C or better is necessary to move to
EAP 0300 Speech/Listening III. At the completion of the
course, students should be able to:
EAP 0220 Reading II
This is a high introductory level reading course in
which EAP students continue to develop their ability to
comprehend text with emphasis on developing reading skills and
vocabulary. A grade of C or better is necessary to move
to EAP 0320 Reading III. At the completion of the course,
students should be able to:
EAP 0240 Writing II
This is a high-introductory level writing course in
which EAP students continue to develop their writing skills in
the context of guided discourse on personal topics with an
emphasis on logical thought and mechanics. A grade of C
or better is necessary to move to EAP 0340 Writing III.
At the completion of the course, students should be able

EAP 0260 Grammar
II
This is a high-introductory level grammar course in
which EAP students continue to develop their control of basic
grammatical structures and statement/questions patterns.
A grade of C or better is necessary to move to EAP 0360 Grammar
III. At the completion of the course, students should be
able to:
EAP 0300 Speech/Listening III
This is an intermediate level course in which EAP
students develop the speaking and listening skills necessary
for participation in classroom discussions with an introduction
to oral presentations and critical listening skills.
Further improvement of pronunciation is also emphasized.
A grade of C or better is necessary to move to EAP 0400
Speech/Listening IV. At the completion of the course,
students should be able to:
EAP 0320 Reading III
This is an intermediate level reading course for ESOL
students designed to develop the ability to read text on
familiar and basic academic topics. Emphasis will be placed on
vocabulary expansion and application of critical reading
