Health Professions


A.S. in Dental Hygiene: This program prepares graduates to become licensed dental hygienists who promote optimum oral health through preventive education and clinical and therapeutic services. Graduates are eligible to take the Dental Hygiene National Board Examination and Florida state licensing examination, both of which are required for licensure in the state of Florida.

A.S. in Nursing: Graduates of this program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become licensed as a registered nurse.


A.S. in Nursing Transition: The Transition Program is designed to allow qualified Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to demonstrate current knowledge and skills so that advanced standing may be attained without unnecessary duplication of course content and experiences. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become licensed as a registered nurse.

A.S. or A.A.S. in Occupational Therapy Assistant: This program prepares graduates to become occupational therapy assistants who use activities as treatment to help individuals live as independently as possible. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification examination of the occupational therapy assistant administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) to become a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).


A.S. or A.A.S. in Physical Therapist Assistant: Graduates of the program will become physical therapist assistants (PTAs). The PTA assists the physical therapist in implementing and performing treatment programs, teaching exercises and functional activities to improve the patient's abilities. Graduates are eligible to take the national Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy licensing examination to become a licensed physical therapist assistant.

A.S. or A.A.S. in Radiography: This program combines didactic and clinical education to prepare the graduate for a career as a radiographer. Graduates are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists National Examination to become a registered radiographer.

A.A.S. in Emergency Medical Services: This program prepares students who have gained competency in the technical institute's Applied Technology Diploma (ATD) in Basic Emergency Medical Technology and the Paramedic Certificate to acquire an associate in applied science degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The EMS degree is designed to provide a career option that includes work in an administrative, advanced clinical or educational setting. This is an articulated program between Manatee Technical Institute (MTI), Sarasota County Technical Institute (SCTI) and SCF.
