This course meets Area V requirements of the A.A./A.A.S./A.S. general education requirements. This course is designed to give the students an understanding of the basic principles of astronomy. Topics covered include history of astronomy, timekeeping, instrumentation, properties of light, basic mechanics and celestial dynamics. This course uses a descriptive approach with a minimum of mathematics. Some fieldwork is required.
