eLearning Faculty Handbook
Introduction
"Access to information" is the key to success in today's world. The merging of computing technologies, telecommunications and the Internet has resulted in an "Information Technology revolution" and has made possible the rapid expansion of eLearning options. eLearning is a new educational culture with its own distinct characteristics. Technology allows students - both on and off campus - to take more responsibility for their education.
To address the unique requirements of the varying delivery methods that comprise eLearning, this Handbook has been composed. It provides information and policies for faculty teaching and for preparing to teach courses that use online components. Information will be added as services and guidelines are expanded and addressed

eLearning at SCF: Vision
SCF envisions a eLearning program in which the highest quality courses are offered to our student population using a variety of delivery methods. Our eLearning courses will maximize student learning by incorporating on-campus activities and meetings when these activities will improve student understanding and address differentials in student learning styles. These activities will ensure a quality learning experience by incorporating multiple communication modes, manipulative activities and group interactions.
What is eLearning at SCF?
eLearning is any instructional activity that takes place with the instructor(s) and student(s) separated by place and/or time. Beyond this simple definition, it is important to note that the manner in which eLearning education is delivered can take many forms. The continuum of forms is defined under the section eLearning Delivery Formats.
