Mobile Device Security: Protect Your Mobile Devices!

Why

Lost or stolen Mobile devices can expose confidential college data – such as student grades. This can lead to significant expense for the college, as well as personal liability for an employee if they leave the college data vulnerable.

What

All Mobile computing and storage devices, regardless of ownership, must have all storage encrypted. This includes laptops, computers, smartphones, tablets, and USB thumb drives. Essentially, any computing device that is capable of persistent storage of user data, and is intended to be portable is covered under the Mobile Computing and Storage Devices policy. Devices also need strong passwords or passcodes to prevent unauthorized people from using or accessing them. There are some very limited exceptions to these requirements. Contact ITSecurity@scf.edu for more information.

How

Contact ITSecurity@scf.edu for assistance with configuring your devices to meet SCF requirements.

Individuals should contact  ITSecurity@scf.edu for assistance in encrypting mobile devices.
