SCF Music Faculty to Perform Feb. 9

(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 28, 2009) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) faculty members will perform a variety of classical and popular music in a benefit recital at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9, in Neel Performing Arts Center, SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. Proceeds from the concert will be used to support SCF's music program.

SCF faculty members boast a broad range of musical performance experience and many perform with prestigious groups that include the Sarasota Orchestra, Florida Orchestra and Sarasota Pop Orchestra, and in state, national and international professional venues.

Featured musicians include Melodie Dickerson, soprano; Lurray Myers, piano; Carol Sparrow, mezzo-soprano; Randolph Locke, tenor; Rex Willis, classical guitar; Laura Spaulding, mezzo-soprano; and Dr. Leonidas Sarakatsannis, piano.

General admission is $10. Admission is $5 for students and SCF employees.

A special showing of the art gallery exhibit, “Jerry N. Uelsmann and Maggie Taylor: Surreal Reality,” will be held prior to the concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Art Gallery, building 11 North.
