Gibson Resigns as SCF Head Volleyball Coach

(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 29, 2010) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) has announced the resignation of head volleyball coach Lewis Gibson.

Gibson, who remains a full-time employee at SCF, cited a transition to a new position in the college’s Information Technology Department and a desire to spend more time with his son as key reasons for resigning from the part-time stipend coaching position.

SCF Athletic Director Mike Riley said, “Lewis did a great job emphasizing the student-athlete and helping our women’s volleyball team achieve a strong grade point average.”

Gibson had been head coach of the SCF volleyball team for three years. Filling in as interim head coach for spring practice is Billie Stiscak, who has been assistant coach for the volleyball team.

Riley said the college will seek to fill the head coach position quickly. A bachelor’s degree and volleyball coaching experience are required. Interested persons can send inquiries and resumes to Riley at .
