SBDC Exceeds 2009 Performance Standards
(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 2, 2010) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Small Business Development Center (SBDC) exceeded all of its performance standards set by the Florida Small Business Development Center and grant requirements.
In 2009, the College’s SBDC held about 70 business seminars with more than 700 attendees. SBDC staff logged more than 1,600 counseling hours, assisting 848 clients, more than double the number of clients expected in the performance goal.
Services are provided by certified business analysts Carolyn Griffin and Art Mahoney and staff assistant Linda Baxter, all of whom have received regional and statewide recognition for their services.
The College's SBDC serves as a hub for specialized education and information services for new and existing businesses in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Free confidential, one-on-one counseling for those who want to start a business or face unique business challenges as well as low-cost training courses are offered at three campus locations in Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch and Venice.
