SCF Choirs Present Concert Feb. 23

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 4, 2010) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Chamber and Concert Choirs will perform the choral work, “The Peaceable Kingdom,” at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.

“The Peaceable Kingdom,” composed by Randall Thompson, is an a cappella work with text drawn from the book of Isaiah. Thompson’s work was inspired by the painting, “Peaceable Kingdom,” by Edward Hicks, a painter and Quaker preacher in the 19th century.

The concert also features selections by the SCF Chamber Choir as well as solos by students Samantha Gillen, soprano; Chad Woodruff, tenor; and student artist winners.

SCF Concert and Chamber Choirs will be directed by Melodie Dickerson, coordinator of choral and vocal studies at SCF, and accompanied by Lurray Myers.
