SCF Graduate Performs in Free Skate at 2010 Vancouver Olympics Tonight

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 15, 2010) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) graduate and local figure skater Amanda Evora and her partner, Mark Ladwig, placed 10th in the short program at the Vancouver 2010 Olympics Sunday evening after a graceful performance.

The pair joined the competition with local skaters Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett, the first Olympic figure skaters born and trained in Florida.

Both pairs have received international acclaim for landing a spot in the 2010 Winter Olympics as well as attention by local media outlets in a recent article titled, “Local skaters’ time to soar.”

Evora and Ladwig are the ninth pair scheduled to perform in the long program competition beginning at 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15. Click here for a schedule of the performance.
