New Information Sessions Scheduled for SCF Collegiate School
(Bradenton, Fla., March 4, 2010) – New information sessions have been scheduled for Manatee County parents interested in enrolling their children, entering sixth or seventh grade in Fall 2010, in State College of Florida Collegiate School (SCFCS).
Two-hour information sessions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 22, Wednesday, March 24, and Monday, March 29, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West, building 14, room 147.
SCF will be the nation’s first college offering a collegiate charter school beginning with middle school students on a college campus. Located at SCF Bradenton, SCFCS will offer a revolutionary approach to instilling a “going to college” mindset in sixth and seventh grade students. Grades eight - 12 will be included in subsequent years.
The curriculum is designed to give students an opportunity to earn simultaneously a high school diploma and an associate's degree.
As a tuition-free charter school, SCFCS will accept applications from any Manatee County students interested in the ground-breaking educational model.
“A primary goal of SCFCS is to increase graduation and retention rates among students who sometimes fall through the cracks navigating the transition from middle to high school,” said SCF President Dr. Lars A. Hafner.
Applications must be submitted in person and will be available at the information sessions. For more information, call 941- 752-5494 or visit scf.edu/SCFCS . Maps and directions are online at scf.edu/maps.
