SCF Names Garofalo New Head Volleyball Coach

Carmine Garofalo(Bradenton, Fla., May 19, 2010) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota has named Carmine Garofalo the new head women's volleyball coach.

Garofalo has 18 years of head coaching experience, including 11 years on the collegiate level. He most recently coached the men’s and women’s volleyball teams at Southern Vermont College, a NCAA Division III school. Early in his career, he was volleyball coach at Florida International University in Miami. Under his leadership, the team reached the NCAA Regional Finals and collected 39 wins.

Garofalo also is known locally for his success as head volleyball coach at Southeast High School for five years. He currently holds the Southeast school record for most career victories.

“Hiring Carmine Garofalo brings us a coach with experience and knowledge at both the college and high school level,” SCF Athletic Director Mike Riley said. “It is a bonus for us to be able to hire a coach with his experience.”

Garofalo resides in Bradenton with his wife and three children.
