SCF to Offer Contractor Exam Preparation Courses
(Bradenton, Fla., September 9, 2010) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Corporate and Community Development, in partnership with the American Contractors Exam Services, will offer preparation courses for contractors and electrical contractors at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Pkwy. East.
The Contractors Exam Prep course will prepare students for testing their knowledge of sheet metal, pool service, gas lines, pollutant storage, solar, gypsum, glass, plumbing and roofing. The course will be offered from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, Oct. 11 – 15, and 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, Dec. 6 – 10.
Florida certified contractor applicants are required to pass two examinations including a trade exam and business and finance exam. Upon successful completion of the examinations, students can earn up to 24 hours of college credit.
The Electrical Contractor Exam Prep course covers electrical installation, repair, alterations or design in compliance with plans, specifications, codes, laws and regulations of systems in plants and substations. The course will be offered 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday -Sunday, Sept. 25 – 26, and 8 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday- Sunday, Nov. 6 – 7.
The cost for each course is $1,795.
