New and Returning Noncredit Classes this Fall
(Bradenton, Fla., September 9, 2010) —State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Corporate and Community Development is offering a full slate of new and returning classes.
New classes offered this fall include Floral Design, Homeland Security, Ace Tennis for adults and youth and Introduction to Net Zero Building. In addition, the Wedding Planner Program, offered 6 – 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 5 – Dec. 7, covers topics including contracts, etiquette, flowers, music, wedding ceremonies, marketing, industry business practices and applications. In addition, students will gain hands-on experience by assisting in planning local weddings and events. The fee is $995.
Courses on foreign languages vary including Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese or sign language.
Those interested in increasing their knowledge of energy conservation can take the Building Green/Living Green series for contractors looking to expand services or consumers wanting to lower energy costs.
Business owners also will find new computer classes to help brand and expand their businesses online, and those thinking about starting a business can tap into resources offered by the Small Business Development Center at SCF.
In addition to general computer classes for businesses , the new My PC Series takes a unique, jargon-free approach to teaching a variety of “getting started” computer topics. The series includes hands-on workshops on computer fundamentals such as navigating Windows 7 and using free Windows Live tools for photo editing, social networking and more. Participants will learn skills using computers with Windows 7, Microsoft’s latest operating system.
Popular classes returning this fall include the Florida Mature Driving Program for those 55 and older, Security Officer Training, Ballroom Dance and Retirement Planning.
