FSU/Asolo Conservatory to Perform "Antigone Now" at SCF Venice

(Bradenton, Fla., October 6, 2010) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host the FSU/Asolo Conservatory production “Antigone Now” at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Performance Pavilion at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail. Sponsored by Swamp Scribes, the creative writing club at SCF Venice, the event is free and open to the public.

The production, “Antigone Now,” by Melissa Cooper, is a modern story inspired by Sophocles’ classic Greek tragedy, “Antigone.” Set in a city reeling from the aftershocks of war, a young woman challenges the principles of authority.
