SCF Studio 84 Productions Presents "A Midsummer Day's Dream"

(Bradenton, Fla., November 3, 2010) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Studio 84 Productions will present a children's theatre production, "A Midsummer Day’s Dream." The performance will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec.10, in the David S. & Anne W. Howard Studio Theatre, located in building 11 West, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.

An alternate version of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” the production is a story of Athenian merchants and artisans hired by an overworked Egeus and encouraged by the enchanted Puck to prepare gifts for the royal wedding of Theseus and Hippolyta.

The production, originally written by Kenneth Erickson Jr., SCF assistant professor and Neel Performing Arts Center manager, for the Manatee County Very Special Festival in the early 1990s, was recently revised to feature music written by Arthur Sullivan and lyrics by Erin Erickson Saladino, Ken Erickson's daughter.

Cast members are SCF students Jeff Beghtel as Egeus; Kelly Leissler as Puck; Michael Walton and Savannah Faircloth as Theseus and Hippolyta; and Rebecca Moore, Charles Manning, Linda Grisson, Genny Starczewski, Zack Burkholder, Janet Raines, Melanie Hess and Alissa Ham as the merchants.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for Florida students and SCF employees.
