Celebrate the Holidays at SCF Concert

(Bradenton, Fla., November 16, 2010) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Choirs, Orchestra and Guitar Ensemble will perform in a Holiday Concert at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th Street West.

The combined concert will feature Great Britain choral composer John Rutter’s “Gloria,” a beautiful combination of choral and instrumental music that has received worldwide recognition, performed by SCF Concert Choir and Orchestra and conducted by Robyn Wilkes, SCF’s director of instrumental studies. Lurray Myers also will be accompanying the performance of “Gloria” on the pipe organ.

SCF Concert Choir also will present Eric Whitacre’s “Lux Aurumque” and SCF Chamber Choir will perform “O Magnum Mysterium” by Tomas Luis Victoria; “Hodie Christus Natus Est” by Jon P. Sweelinck; and “Gaudete” by Steven Sametz. The choirs will be directed by Melodie Dickerson, SCF’s director of choral and vocal studies.

Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of Rex Willis, will perform “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by Johann Sebastian Bach; “Canon in D major” by Johann Pachebel; and “Trepak” by Peter Tchaichovsky.
