SCF to Host Guest Pianist Jennifer Donelson

(Bradenton, Fla., January 7, 2011) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host a concert by guest pianist Jennifer Donelson at 4:15 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 22, in the Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.

“Agony and Ecstasy,” a musical exploration of suffering and redemption, is a dialogue between anguish and deliverance as embodied in piano works by Franz Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, Frederic Chopin, and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Donelson is the founding director of the Cor Immaculatae Schola Cantorum, a professional vocal ensemble dedicated to the performance of Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony, and directs scholae cantorum at St. Michael the Archangel and Ss. Francisco y Clara parishes in Miami.

Donelson, also an assistant professor of music at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, received her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
