SCF Graduate Alan Nguyen to Perform With Miami Guitar Trio

(Bradenton, Fla., February 3, 2011) —The Miami Guitar Trio, a unique chamber group from South Florida, will perform a variety of early to contemporary music in a concert at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.

Recent performances by the group include a commission by the Society of Composers Inc. to perform a concert of works written by composition students of the University of Miami, an all-baroque program for the Miami Bach Society and National Public Radio’s South Florida station live concert and interview. The group also has performed for the Sarasota Guitar Society and at the Miami International Guitar Festival.

Featured performers include Frederico Bonoccasso, Fredrico Musgrove and Alan Nguyen, a graduate of local Southeast High School and SCF. While attending SCF, Nguyen studied under the guidance of Rex Willis, winning the Florida Community College Activities Association Student Artist Competition and performing a showcase concert at the Miami International Guitar Festival. Nguyen completed a bachelor’s degree in guitar performance from the University of Miami and is attending graduate school.

Bonacossa earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in classical guitar performance with a music theory cognate from the University of Miami. Musgrove teaches classical guitar and music theory/composition at Academy of Arts and Minds in Coconut Grove. Stetson, a native of Argentina, earned a bachelor’s degree in music performance from the University of Miami.
