SCF to Host Spring Arts Day
(Bradenton, Fla., February 7, 2011) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will showcase artistic talents of the College family at Spring Arts Day held at 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the SCF Bradenton Performance Pavilion. The event is free and open to the public.
Students, faculty, staff and administration will host the day’s events at the following times:
• 11 a.m., opening by Dr. Jack Crocker, SCF vice president of academic quality and success, who will perform his published poems and songs;
• 11:30 p.m. - noon, SCF Jazz Band;
• 12:30 – 1 p.m., SCF Concert Choir;
• Noon – 12:30 p.m. and 1 – 1:30 p.m., open microphone for poetry and fiction readings.
Throughout the festival, an SCF theater information booth will be open, SCF art students will draw portraits of interested participants, and an art-themed scavenger hunt for SCF’s stellar art collection will be held on campus.
In addition, the Asolo Repertory Theatre and the Ringling Museum of Art will provide information about subscription discounts and educational programs of interest to students and faculty. Volunteers from Art Center Sarasota, a community art center that has served the area for more than 85 years, also will share information about its educational programs, exhibitions and volunteer opportunities.
