SCF Studio 84 Productions to Present "Dearly Departed"

(Bradenton, Fla., March 22, 2011) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Studio 84 Productions will present “Dearly Departed” at 8 p.m., Friday - Saturday, April 15-16, Wednesday-Saturday, April 20-23, in the David S. & Anne V. Howard Studio Theatre at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West, building 11 West. A matinee performance is scheduled at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 17.

The play, written by David Bottrell and Jessie Jones, is a comedy about the colorful and dysfunctional Turpin family gathering to give “Dearly Departed” Daddy Bud a proper sendoff. By the time the Turpins sort through their family feuds, extramarital flings, hangovers and headstone options, they’ve learned that coping with life’s losses can turn out to be drop-dead funny.

The play is directed by Ken Erickson, SCF assistant professor and Neel Performing Arts Center manager. Cast members include SCF students Megan Sicks, Jalex Beghtel, Kayla Vayo, Austin Peed, Sally Fint, Michael Walton, Genny Starczewski, Adam Condor, Robert Potter, Rebecca Moore, Janet Raines, Marina Kaminskiy, Mary Bellows and Giovonni Austin.
