SCF Athletes Earn Awards for Academic Achievement

(Bradenton, Fla., June 22, 2011) — Nine State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Manatees earned National Junior College Athletic Association Athletes of Distinction Honors for each having a grade point average (GPA) of 3.6 or higher in the 2010-11 academic year.

More student-athletes were recognized from SCF than any other college in the state. SCF Softball player Stephanie Juergens held a 4.0GPA in the four semesters she attended SCF. Other SCF Manatees recognized as Academic All-Americans for scoring at least a 3.6 GPA include SCF Manatees Bradley Dantzler, baseball; Natalie Gaudreau, volleyball; Sarah Kruysman, softball; Steven Leasure, baseball; Tineke Eve Lewis, volleyball; Whitney McElhiney, volleyball; Stephanie Shoup, softball; and Isaac Colton Speed, baseball.
