SCF Campuses Commemorate 9-11 Anniversary

(Bradenton, Fla., September 2, 2011) - Students and employees of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will observe the 10th anniversary of 9-11 at SCF campuses in Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch and Venice on Friday, Sept. 9.

Provosts, faculty and student leaders have planned events for each campus including:

SCF Bradenton: At 10:15 a.m. the tolling of bells in front of the Campus Ministry Building will signify a moment of silence across campus, followed by a prayer service. At 12:15 p.m. at the Performance Pavilion, SCF Music Program students and faculty will present a half-hour patriotic music program.

SCF Lakewood Ranch: Students, faculty and staff will gather around the flagpole at 11 a.m. for a period of silence and reflection.

SCF Venice: Students, faculty and staff will gather at the flagpole at 10:50 a.m. and the ringing of bells will signal the start of the commemoration. Ribbons will be displayed on two nearby newly planted trees that symbolize the Twin Towers.
