Veterans Recognized by SCF District Board of Trustees

(Bradenton, Fla., September 6, 2011) — In celebration of being named a 2012 Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs Magazine, State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) District Board of Trustees recognized Dr. Paul Nolting, adviser for the Veterans Club at SCF Bradenton, Dennis Anglin, veterans adviser to financial aid, and SCF student Scott Waite for his service.

As a top military friendly school, SCF ranked in the top 20 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide. The honor is based on nonfinancial efforts to recruit and retain veteran students, financial commitment through tuition benefits and other program benefits and academic accreditations. More than 400 veterans from all branches of the military are enrolled this fall.

Waite, a Sarasota resident, is a decorated Navy veteran. He was ranked petty officer, third class, and received numerous awards including the Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation. He enrolled at SCF in January 2010 in the Associate in Arts degree program. He plans to pursue a mass communications degree with a political science minor. His goal is to continue in public service in the Senate or House of Representatives.
