SCF Manatees Volleyball Raised Funds for Snooty the Manatee

(Bradenton, Fla., October 6, 2011) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF)  Manatees volleyball team stepped up to a communitywide challenge to raise funds for Snooty the Manatee and his friends.

At the “Volley for Snooty” tournament held in September, the SCF Manatees collected $578 to benefit the South Florida Museum in Bradenton, which is home to 63-year-old Snooty and his friends.

Through the Ripple Effect campaign, two anonymous donors have challenged the community to support Florida’s endangered species and pledged to match up to $20,000 donated to the Museum’s Manatee Care Program. With the contributions from the SCF volleyball team, the Museum has reached 75 percent of the total fundraising goal of $40,000.
