Wind Ensemble Concert at SCF Nov. 17

(Bradenton, Fla., October 24, 2011) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Wind Ensemble will present a joint concert with Sarasota High School Wind Ensemble at 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.

The concert will feature John Philip Sousa’s “U. S. Field Artillery March,” Clifton Williams' "Concertino for Percussion," featuring the SCF Percussion Ensemble, "Shalom," a new and contemporary work by Philip Sparke, “Amazing Grace” by  Frank Ticheli and “Courtly Airs and Dances,” a Renaissance-inspired wind band favorite by Ron Nelson.

Conducted by Robyn Wilkes, director of instrumental studies, the SCF Wind Ensemble is comprised of students pursuing a variety of fields including music, nursing, engineering, teaching and various other professions.

SCF will be joined by the Sarasota High School Wind Ensemble, directed by John D. Roseboom.
