Open House at SCFCS for Prospective Instructors
(Bradenton, Fla., December 9, 2011) — Prospective instructors interested in applying for positions at State College of Florida Collegiate School (SCFCS) are invited to tour the facility and meet with current instructors and administrators at an open house from 3 - 5 p.m., Jan. 20, SCFCS, 5840 26th St. West, building 19.
During the open house, SCFCS instructors and administrators will answer questions about the school’s innovative program and its mastery-based curriculum.
SCFCS has openings in all of the core areas, including language arts, social studies, science and mathematics.
Instructors are required to have Florida certification for both middle and high school (grades 6-12) and must have a strong background in technology with preferred experience using Apple products. Instructors also may have an opportunity to teach an elective in the area of their choice. Electives include speech/debate, Model UN, art, entrepreneurial business and sports.
At SCFCS, instructors are both teachers and mentors and must use differentiated and small group instruction in the classroom. SCFCS instructors are most successful when they collaborate, share and individually contribute to the school’s “going to college” culture.
