(Bradenton, Fla., December 15, 2011)— The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Foundation Inc. has established The Rizzo Foundation Scholarship Fund to benefit the children of the late Dr. Felix Rizk, SCF natural science professor, who was fondly known to family and friends as "Rizzo."

Rizk, a North Port resident, joined SCF 10 years ago as an assistant professor and was quickly promoted to full professor. Throughout his years at SCF, he taught science and math courses on multiple SCF campuses. Most recently, he taught Earth and Space Science, Environmental Science and Interdisciplinary Science courses at SCF Venice.

A dedicated professor who set high expectations for his students, Rizk also was committed to helping students make the most of their college experience. Rizk was highly regarded and respected by his colleagues for his leadership at SCF. He represented the Faculty Senate at SCF Venice, chaired the SCF Venice Employee Campaign, and served on the President's Advisory Committee, Presidential Search Committee, Early ALERT Subcommittee and Enrollment-Management Cross—Functional Team.
