SCF Music Faculty Thomas Koch to Present Concert Jan. 12

(Bradenton, Fla., January 5, 2012) – Thomas Koch, State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) adjunct instructor, will present a classical guitar concert at 8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West at SCF Bradenton.

The concert will feature early 19th century classical pieces by Italian guitarist Mauro Giulani and Latin American music.

Koch, a native of Germany, began his classical guitar studies when he was 11. After graduating from two music conservatories with degrees in music education and guitar performance, Koch traveled to France, Spain, Portugal and Croatia to further expand his horizon in the world of music performance.

He also has performed as a soloist with many orchestras along Florida’s Gulf Coast and is the founding president of Guitar Sarasota, a nonprofit organization that promotes education, appreciation and cultural significance of the classical guitar.
