Concert Commemorating Composer Franz Liszt at SCF Feb. 9
(Bradenton, Fla., January 24, 2012) — Guest artists Michael Baron, piano, and Jeanie Darnell, soprano, will perform a concert commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of Hungarian composer Franz Liszt at 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, in State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West at SCF Bradenton.
As seasoned performers, Baron and Darnell have toured internationally. Baron, who performs more than 40 concerts per year, travels throughout Europe, Asia, South America and the United States where he is a recitalist, chamber musician and orchestra soloist who performs a diverse repertoire ranging from Baroque compositions to contemporary pieces. Baron is a professor of music and head of vocal studies at Florida Gulf Coast University. He received his doctorate in piano performance from Ohio State University.
Darnell, who performs throughout the United States and Europe, is a well-known soprano soloist for major concerts and oratorio repertoires. She most recently was featured as a soloist in the opera pops concert with the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra and in Opera Naples’ production of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.” Darnell earned a doctorate in vocal performance and pedagogy at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
