SCF Jazz Bands to Perform Feb. 21
(Bradenton, Fla., February 3, 2012) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will perform a variety of traditional and modern arrangements at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.
The concert, which features vocal and instrumental music, will include Duke Ellington’s “Feet Bone,” Ellington and Strayhorn’s “Isfahan,” Burton Lane and Ralph Freed’s “How about You” and an array of jazz standards.
Marc Mannino, director of jazz studies at SCF, will direct the concert. Mannino is a graduate of the Florida State University School of Music with degrees in both music performance and music education. At SCF, he has expanded the music curriculum to include more jazz, pop and rock genre offerings.
