SCF Choirs to Perform March 6
(Bradenton, Fla., February 23, 2012) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) choirs will present a concert at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.
Performed by SCF Chamber Choir and Concert Choir, the concert will feature various styles of music written to give consolation, hope and meaning to people experiencing difficult situations. The program includes works by Moses Hogan, Gyorgy Orban and Mollie Ijames.
Featured will be Christianna D’Amico, soprano, and Ethan Howland, bass, who were chosen by the SCF vocal music faculty to participate in the Student Artist Competition in the Florida State College Association Music Symposium at Florida Atlantic University this spring. Also performing will be SCF student violinist Reema Khadre who will accompany the choirs in “Five Hebrew Love Songs” by Eric Whitacre.
The choirs will be directed by Melodie Dickerson, SCF Music Program director, and accompanied by pianist Lurray Myers.
