Board Report: April 17, 2012, Special Meeting
(Bradenton, Fla., April 18, 2012) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) District Board of Trustees convened for a special meeting on Tuesday, April 17, to discuss construction documents and a recommendation to approve remodeling of the Venice campus chemistry laboratory.
The former outdated chemistry lab has been demolished and a construction manager, AD Morgan, has been recommended by SCF staff to complete the remodeling project. The board recognized the need to complete the renovation of the laboratory before the fall semester starts.
Traci Steen, associate vice president of facilities management and government relations, presented state requirements that pertain to construction projects at educational facilities. After discussing the merits of different construction bidding options, the board stated the intention to seek additional clarification from state regulatory agencies.
A motion was made by Dr. Craig Trigueiro to table the decision for one week until the board’s regular meeting April 25 at the Venice campus. Trustee C. J. Fishman seconded the motion, stating his expectation that the board would make a decision at the April 25 board meeting that would allow the chemistry lab remodeling project to move forward. The motion passed.
