SCF’s Glenn Goonis Receives ASQ-Certified Quality Improvement
(Bradenton, Fla., November 29, 2012) — Glenn Goonis, State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) coordinator of manufacturing education grants projects, has completed the requirements to be named an American Society for Quality-Certified Quality Improvement Associate (ASQ CQIA).
In addition to passing the CQIA examination, Goonis completed two years of general work experience related to the Body of Knowledge for CQIAs who are required to have a basic knowledge of quality tools and their uses and be involved in quality improvement projects.
Goonis oversees SCF's participation in Engineering, Technology, and Advanced Manufacturing grant project funded by the U.S. Department of Labor in partnership with Suncoast Workforce and other academic partners. The project has supported employment in the area through the development and implementation of new credit and noncredit courses in areas such as quality and robotics, the purchase of new lab equipment and recruitment and training of out-of-work employees interested in the region's growing manufacturing sector.
Since 1968, when the first ASQ certification examination was given, more than 170,000 individuals have taken the path to reaching their goal of becoming ASQ-Certified intheir field or profession, including many of who have attained more than one designation.
