SCF to Offer Local Anesthesia Dental Hygiene Continuing Ed Course
(Bradenton, Fla., December 17, 2012) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Dental Hygiene Program, in partnership with SCF’s Corporate and Community Development Division, will offer the area’s only local anesthetic course to fulfill a new state requirement that allows registered dental hygienists to administer local anesthesia under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
“Local Anesthesia: A Course for Dental Hygienists” will be held from 8 -5 p.m., Thursday – Sunday, Jan. 17-20. The course includes:
didactic instruction from Jan. 17-18, at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Pkwy. E., Sarasota, Center for Innovation & Technology Auditorium, room 125
clinical instruction from Jan. 19-20, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West, Bradenton, Dental Hygiene Clinic, building 2, parking lot F.
Demetra Logothetis, professor and director of University of New Mexico Division of Dental Hygiene and author of “Local Anesthesia for the Dental Hygienist,” will be the course instructor.
Students must present current documentation including a Florida dental hygiene license, CPR certification and professional liability insurance coverage.
The course fee of $1,495 includes breakfast and lunch all days. The deadline for students to register and complete pre-course preparation is Jan. 11. Registration can be paid by phone, mail or in person via MasterCard, Visa, American Express, check or cash. Send registration and payment to:
