SCF to Offer Beginner English for College Classes
(Bradenton, Fla., February 6, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Corporate and Community Development will offer an English for College class on Mondays-Thursdays starting Monday, Feb. 11, at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West, building 18.
The purpose of the 12-week intensive, noncredit course is to teach beginning-level students English communication skills in preparation for college. In the English for College Program, students also will learn about degrees and certificates that SCF offers and meet with advisers to plan their future studies at SCF.
After completing the course, students may advance to the English for Academic Purposes Program that prepares intermediate and advanced English learners to acquire the skills needed to successfully complete a degree at SCF and transfer to a university.
Students are required to have a high school diploma from any country. Partial scholarships are available through The SCF Foundation Inc. for students who plan to attend college.
