SCF Jazz Bands to Perform March 26

(Bradenton, Fla., March 6, 2013) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will perform in a concert at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.

The concert will include “What is Hip” by Tower of Power, featuring the Jazz Combo; “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Bublé, featuring SCF student vocalists Josie Flemming and Colton Cason; “Oop  Bop Sh’Bam” by Dizzy Gillespie, featuring Chris Leiper on trumpet; and “Just Friends” by John Klenner and Sam Lewis, featuring SCF’s jazz trombone section.

Marc Mannino, director of jazz studies at SCF, will direct the concert. Mannino is a graduate of the Florida State University School of Music with degrees in both music performance and music education. At SCF, he has expanded the music curriculum to include more jazz, pop and rock genre offerings.
