SCF Students Participate in Virtual Collaboration
(Bradenton, Fla., March 27, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) students participated in an asynchronous blogging discussion with students from Central Michigan University and St. Petersburg College this spring.
In Intro to Teaching and Intro to Diversity classes led by Adjunct Instructor Anna Vigliotti, SCF students engaged in a two-week blogging discussion about standardized testing in the American education system via Vigliotti's website, Professor V's Teaching Café.
"The experience broadens my students' perspectives about diversity, and as an added bonus enhances their technology skills by communicating online," Vigliotti said.
Also participating in the virtual collaboration were Araceli Cumbo, coordinator of the SCF Alternative Certification Program; Dr. Cher Gauweiler, professor, St. Petersburg College; and Dr. Troy Hicks, associate professor, Central Michigan University.
Last year, Vigliotti's students participated in a live webinar with a professor from University Trivandrum in India about Indian culture via Skype.
