SCF Board Report: Special Meeting May 7, 2013
Negotiation Approved for Academic Building Design Services
(Bradenton, Fla., May 7, 2013) — The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) District Board of Trustees in a special meeting on May 7, 2013, at SCF Lakewood Ranch unanimously approved negotiating with Williamson Dacar, the top-ranked architectural firm, for professional design services for a new academic building on the college's Bradenton campus.
The board's motion includes authorization for SCF Facilities Management Director Chris Wellman to negotiate with the second and third highest-ranked finalists if a satisfactory contract is not reached with the top-ranked finalist. Fawley Bryant and Harvard Jolly Architecture Inc. are the second and third finalists, respectively.
Construction on the new 36,000-square-foot academic building, which will replace some of the oldest buildings on the campus, is expected to start this year and be completed by the start of Fall 2014 semester.
The board rescheduled the May regular meeting to Wednesday, May 29, and added a special budget workshop meeting on June 4. Both meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. at SCF Lakewood Ranch.
