Fine Art Gallery to Feature “SCF Embraces Our Differences 2013”

(Bradenton, Fla. May 17, 2013) — An opening reception for the exhibition "SCF Embraces Differences 2013" will be held Friday, June 7, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Fine Art Gallery at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. Light refreshments will be served at the reception, which is co-hosted by the SCF Fine Art Gallery, SCF Diversity/Multicultural Awareness Committee and SCF Collegiate School.

The exhibition will feature the following "Embracing Our Differences 2013" quotations by SCF students and staff:

  • "The Good Within: Look and try to find any evidence of good that hides within your opponent before taking an unnecessary defensive act." – Gleb Mischchenko, SCF student
  • "Diversity is like a kaleidoscope; beautiful no matter which way you view its parts." – Sara Graceffa, SCF student
  • "When we learn to honor each other's holidays, we can celebrate together all year long!" – Kim Garvey, SCF adjunct instructor

SCF student Angela Perez's artwork "Odd Girl Out," which won honorable mention in the competition, also will be on display in the Fine Art Gallery.

In addition, quotations from all SCF students and employees who sent submissions to "Embracing Our Differences 2013" and artwork by SCF Collegiate School students will be displayed.

SCF Collegiate School students' work includes: "DNA," Madison Koch; "You're Beautiful No Matter What," Brianna Daley; "Together," Viviana Whalen; "Heart Savers," Rylee Hall; "Stand Out," Kyle Kirkpatrick; and "Broken Earth," Ethan Walz.
