SCF Phi Theta Kappa Earns Recognition
(Bradenton, Fla., June 25, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Alpha Mu Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society (PTK) at SCF Venice was named a Four Star Chapter and the Nu Zeta Chapter of PTK at SCF Bradenton was named a Two Star Chapter at the 2013 Florida Regional Convention. The chapters also were recognized at the 2013 PTK Annual Convention on PTK.org.
The Five Star Chapter Development Plan serves as a guide to develop strong chapters that earn local, regional and international recognition. Chapters also enhance their working relationship with the college administration by becoming active on the campus and in the community. As chapters reach these milestones, they progress through each level of the Five Star Plan.
The SCF Venice Alpha Mu Upsilon PTK chapter and SCF Bradenton Nu Zeta PTK chapter held ceremonies this spring to induct new members. Click here to view a list of the new members.
Kristen Zaborski, instructor, business and technology, and Michael Rogers, assistant professor, social and behavioral sciences, are co-advisers of the Alpha Mu Upsilon chapter of the PTK International Honor Society at SCF Venice. Janet Samuels, assistant professor, mathematics, is an adviser for the Nu Zeta chapter of the PTK International Honor Society at SCF Bradenton.Rebecca Williams, instructor, mathematics, also served as a PTK adviser at SCF Bradenton during the 2012-2013 academic year.
