SBDC at SCF Hosts Lunch and Learn Sept. 11

(Bradenton, Fla., August 28, 2013) — The Small Business Development Center at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), in partnership with the city of North Port and the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, will host the sixth workshop in the Small Business Lunch and Learn monthly series. The workshop is free and open to the public.

The next workshop, “The Customer is King,” will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee at North Port, 5920 Pan American Blvd., North Port.

Jimmy Dean, publisher of Harbor Style Magazine, will present the workshop designed to explain the importance of customer follow-up. After spending time and money to find customers and tell them about products and services, many businesses fail to follow up on customers’ inquiries. At the workshop, business owners will learn fast and efficient ways to turn inquiries into sales. They also will learn how to strengthen relationships with current customers and build relationships with complaining customers to gain loyal customers and bring in sales dollars.

Lunch will be provided at no cost by the program’s sponsors, Firehouse Subs and Lightspeed Voice.

The workshops are designed to show business owners how to improve their business and stay competitive. Additional workshops will be held on Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 9, on “Budgeting and Cash Flow,” and Nov. 13, on “Conquering the Fear of Failure.”

To register for each workshop, call SBDC at SCF at 941-408-1412.
