SCF Hosts A.S. in Nursing Program Convocation
(Bradenton, Fla., October 2, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) A.S. in Nursing Program held a Nursing Convocation at SCF Bradenton to enhance new and returning students’ experiences. About 286 students attended the convocation to learn about library resources; study skills; job search, interviewing and resume tips; and the future nursing job market.
The Nursing Convocation featured presentations by nursing professionals in the community including Linda Smith, executive director, Intervention Project for Nurses; Jan Mauk, vice president and chief nursing officer, Sarasota Memorial Hospital; Dina Cochi, human resources recruiter, Venice Regional Medical Center; Seamus Allman, mental health counselor, BayCare Behavioral Health, Employee and Student Assistance Programs; and Linda Hankins, Light the Night.
SCF administrators and faculty members also participating included Dr. Beverly Hindenlang, dean of nursing; Dr. Sue Garland, program chair, nursing; Dr. Mike Mears, SCF Bradenton provost and vice president of baccalaureate programs; Terri Hanlon, coordinator, SCF Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program; Mark Marino, SCF information literacy librarian; and nursing faculty members Rosemarie Grebe, Diane Taylor, Deb Marr, Ernestina Vega and Susan Hutton.
