SCF Board Report: November 19, 2013
(Bradenton, Fla., November 19, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) District Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 19 at SCF Lakewood Ranch.
The board gave approval for SCF to enter into a contract with GATES Butz Institutional Construction LLC, Bonita Springs, Fla., to construct the new 36,000-square-foot academic building at SCF Bradenton. The new building, which will replace some of the oldest buildings on the campus, is expected to be completed in Fall 2014.
Dr. Donald R. Bowman, SCF vice president of student affairs, presented a report from the Strategic Enrollment Management team about outreach and communication to prospective students who show interest in SCF and student engagement.
In official board action, the board approved:
• the financial agenda including the monthly financial report, budget amendments, SCF Collegiate School (SCFCS) financial statement and the Florida College Risk Management Consortium Agreement.
• the nonfinancial agenda including amended noncredit Corporate and Community Development courses, the SCFCS monthly report and the Traffic Safety Institute advisory committee Sept. 2013 meeting minutes.
• updates to college rules.
SCF President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld thanked board members for attending her inauguration on Nov. 8.
“We had the opportunity to put our best foot forward and showcase our students and faculty,” she said.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at SCF Lakewood Ranch.
