SCF Holiday Concert with Guests Gloria Musicae and Sarasota Pops Orchestra

(Bradenton, Fla., November 25, 2013) — Celebrate the holiday season with an assortment of holiday music performed by the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Chamber Choir, Concert Choir and Guitar Ensemble along with Sarasota Pops Orchestra and Gloria Musicae at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, in Neel Performing Arts Center at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.

"Holiday Potpourri!" will feature the following performances: "Carols and Lullabies of the Southwest" by SCF Chamber Choir and Gloria Musicae; "A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas" by SCF Concert Choir and Sarasota Pops Orchestra; and "Vocalise, Opus 34" by Guitar Ensemble and guest artist Martha Lopez, soprano. SCF Choirs are under the direction of Melodie Dickerson, and Rex Willis is the director of the SCF Guitar Ensemble.

Gloria Musicae is a Sarasota based professional vocal ensemble under the direction of Dr. Joseph Holt with performances by guest artist Anne Hobson, harp, formerly with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and George Nickson, percussionist, with the Sarasota Orchestra.

Under the direction of Robyn Bell, SCF director of instrumental studies, the Sarasota Pops Orchestra is comprised of more than 60 musicians who are committed to spreading their passion for music to everyone.
