SCF Celebrates the Inauguration of President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld
(Bradenton, Fla., December 4, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) celebrated the inauguration of SCF’s sixth president, Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld, on Friday, Nov. 8, at Neel Performing Arts Center with the SCF District Board of Trustees, faculty and staff, and students; public officials, business leaders, community members and university delegates.
In her inauguration address, Probstfeld reflected on the growth and accomplishments of SCF since 1957 when its founders were passionate about bringing college education to the community.
“We have evolved, expanded and transitioned from MJC to MCC to SCF,” Probstfeld said. “As long as commitment to excellence, student success and our community is at the heart of our mission, we will never forget why we’re here, and we will remember from whence we came.”
Other participants included speakers Dr. Michael Probstfeld, the new president’s brother and chief of staff at Tucson Medical Center; Rick Hager, SCF alumnus, trustee and president of Goodwood and Stone Builders LLC; Andrew Webster, SCF professor and department chair, art, design, humanities; Karyn Washington, SCF manager of business operations; and Vida Biggins, SCF student and president of SCF’s Nu Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

The SCF Foundation Inc. presented the Evening Under the Stars Inauguration Concert featuring the SCF Jazz Band, Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Band. After a performance by Brian Olsen of Art in Action, portraits were auctioned to benefit the SCF Foundation Inc.
