SCF Showcases Student Artwork at Bradenton and Venice

(Bradenton, Fla., March 28, 2014) - Annual juried SCF Student Art Exhibitions featuring the best artwork produced by State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) students in the 2013-2014 academic year will be featured at opening receptions noon - 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in the library at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, building 300, and 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, April 11, in the Fine Art Gallery at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. The receptions are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The exhibit at SCF Bradenton will display artwork including the Best in Show, SCF President's Award, Keeton's Honorable Mention Awards and first place in the following categories: photography, graphic design, two-dimensional design and three-dimensional design. Cash prizes will be awarded. The juror for the exhibition will be Richard Herzog, assistant professor of sculpture at New College of Florida. The exhibition runs through April 23. Artwork will be available for viewing 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday - Friday at the SCF Fine Art Gallery in building 11 North. It’s off 60th Avenue West between 26th and 34th streets, accessible from parking lot H.

At SCF Venice, the exhibition features awards including the Juror’s Choice and first place in the following categories: photography, graphic design, two-dimensional design and three-dimensional design. Cash prizes will be awarded. The juror for the exhibition will be Ted Camp, retired professor and department chair for fine and performing arts. The exhibition runs through May 1. Artwork will be available for viewing 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Friday. Maps and directions are online at scf.edu/maps.
