SCF Celebrates National Poetry Month at Bradenton and Venice
(Bradenton, Fla., April 10, 2014) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host events at SCF Bradenton and SCF Venice to celebrate National Poetry Month throughout April. The events are free and open to the public.
- SCF Bradenton library will host a poetry reading 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the library at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., building 8. A reception will follow the poetry reading. Light refreshments will be served.
- Swamp Scribes and the Literary Guild at SCF Bradenton will host a “123Slam” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, building 800, in the Selby Room. In addition, students in SCF’s Swamp Scribes creative writing club have been participating in a 30-day poetry writing challenge based on a National Poetry Writing Month Prompt eBook hosted by the SCF Venice library. The public is invited to view the book at http://libguides.scf.edu/napowrimo and submit poetry in person to the SCF Venice library, where poetry will be displayed on a writing wall.
