William G. and Marie Selby Foundation Announces Increase in Scholarship Awards to SCF Foundation
(Bradenton, Fla., August 27, 2014) - The State College of Florida (SCF) Foundation has been awarded $123,000 in scholarship funds from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation. These funds will be distributed to awardees for the 2014-15 academic year and celebrated at the SCF Foundation Scholarship Luncheon on Oct. 8.
The Selby Foundation has been a supporter of the College since 1961. This year, the Selby Foundation increased its contribution from $70,000 to $123,000, which will go toward helping more than 100 SCF students.
“The State College of Florida Foundation came to us with a detailed analysis of their student population and areas of real need,” said Dr. Sarah H. Pappas, executive director of the Selby Foundation. “We were impacted by their presentation and feel this increase will help student-veterans, those moving into baccalaureate degrees, and ‘gap students’ who hold jobs that disqualify them for Pell Grants but don’t provide enough to cover their costs. This increase will allow the SCF Foundation to award at least 45 additional scholarships.”
The Selby Foundation scholarship recipients can be full- or part-time students who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above.
